Nils Peterson, MEd, Principal
As President for Teams & Leaders, Nils has focused his energies on redefining how the field of experiential-based training can support, influence and advance the work currently being done in the fields of leadership training and organizational development. As a facilitator and consultant over the past 15 years, Nils has had the opportunity to develop and deliver trainings to thousands of clients across the United States and Canada. Nils serves as adjunct faculty at Seattle University's Graduate School of Business and at Bastyr University's Doctoral Program in Naturopathic Medicine. He earned his Master of Education degree from Antioch University, Seattle, with a focus in applied behavioral science and systems thinking.
Kevin Bush, MA, Principal
As director of Teams & Leaders, Kevin has focused his energies on designing, customizing and delivering trainings that enhance the leadership capacities of individuals at all levels within organizations. He believes that effective relationships are the critical building blocks of successful teams. As such, Kevin designs and delivers trainings that get to the heart of developing the skills and competencies necessary to deal effectively with difficult relationships and situations. Kevin has been working as a consultant for professional and post-graduate team development for approximately 15 years. In addition to his work with organizations, Kevin has worked as a therapist in private practice providing education and support for individuals, couples, and families. Kevin earned his Master of Arts degree from the Leadership Institute of Seattle, with a focus in applied behavioral science and systems theory.
Hartley McGrath, Consultant
As a Teams & Leaders consultant, Hartley focuses on planning and delivering programs to MBA students. With over 20 classes a year, she works with hundreds of graduate level students in courses that cover such topics as teambuilding, leadership, conflict management, communication, and emotional intelligence. Hartley also acts as a core facilitator for Teams and Leaders corporate clients' leadership and team building programs. Hartley has traveled extensively- twice living abroad. She brings this passion for travel and discovery to her work through coordinating our group travel and extended learning programs in other areas of the world. A highlight of this work is an intensive leadership program she delivers each year in the Italian Dolomites, a strikingly beautiful mountain range in Europe. Hartley's consulting leads participants to gain insight and awareness into how they show up in relationships, resulting in shifts in how they present themselves to the world and positive changes to their organizations. Hartley graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor in Business Administration from Seattle University.
Nick Strauss, MA, Consultant
Nick Strauss was born and raised in South Africa, and has travelled and worked around the world. These experiences have shaped his belief in the importance of diverse perspectives, the necessity of skilled dialogue, and the value of effective leadership. Through training, coaching and consulting, he provides individuals and groups with insight into themselves and the tools to achieve their personal and business goals. Possessing a keen, analytical mind, Nick is not afraid to challenge convention or be direct in his feedback, yet he is also warm and supportive of his clients. For years, Nick has led wilderness expeditions that combine leadership development with adventures like climbing, rafting, and canyoneering. He has a passion for the outdoors and for helping people achieve more than they think is possible. Nick has worked with a variety of clients, including Microsoft, Boeing, and the MBA programs of Harvard, Kellogg, and Stanford. He holds a BA in Psychology and Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan and an MA in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle.
David has reached the summit of Mt. Everest six times and is one of the premier international expedition leaders operating today. Under his guidance, 90 climbers have reached the Mt. Everest’s summit. His unique skill set as a leader in these high stakes environments along with his ability to engage and empower his clients, make David a great fit as a consultant at Teams & Leaders. A long time Northwest mountaineer, he has guided and climbed throughout the Cascades, Andes, the Himalaya, the Altai, Alaska Range, and Caucuses in Russia. A natural leader, David has been described as the ultimate guide, instructor and friend. David has led expeditions to all of the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent) as well as climbs and expeditions in Mongolia, Mexico, Bolivia and other Himalayan peaks. David’s focus at Teams & Leaders is on building and sustaining high-performing teams; facilitating our Mt. Everest simulation workshop; and speaking engagements. Coco Hess, MBA, Consultant
Coco Hess graduated from the University of the Pacific with an undergraduate degree in Social Science and a Masters in Business Administration. Her work experience includes roles in customer care, retail sales and sales management with McCaw Cellular/AT&T Wireless Services, technology, organizational systems and change management consulting with Accenture, and program management with Microsoft. Her professional focus is the study of organizational behavior and how leadership styles are affected in various cultures / systems. Sailing is one of Coco's passions, and among many things, two of her lifetime goals include sailing around the world, and developing a leadership program delivered at sea.
Peter A. Koslik, Creative Director
An award-winning screenwriter, Peter brought his unique creative vision to Teams & Leaders to write The Unlikely Hero with Nils Peterson. The Unlikely Hero is an Arthurian adventure novel that explores modern leadership development in the context of Celtic mythology and the hero's journey. Teams & Leaders plans to use the novel to build and support its current coursework and to publish it for a more general audience. Peter graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven with a BA degree in English and completed both the Screenwriters' and Fiction Writers' Programs at the University of Washington. Peter's works have recently placed as semifinalists in the highly esteemed Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting sponsored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
